16th WEEK OF RESEARCH, TEACHING AND EXTENSION AT UFSC
The Sailboat ECO was open to the community during the SNCT/SEPEX with the theme: “The Impact of Marine Garbage on the Oceans”. The event took place throughout Brazil from October 23 to 29, 2017.
The participation of the Veleiro ECO team during the SNCT had the general objective “to develop the concept and the qualitative and quantitative dimension of plastic waste in the oceans, aiming at understanding the impacts of these wastes on the marine ecosystem.
Children from public and private schools learned some concepts of Oceanography and Environmental Education, visited the Sailboat ECO, got to know oceanographic research equipment, saw plankton samples and interacted with an exhibition on marine litter.
